Protective Eyewear & Radiation Glasses
Lead glasses, radiation protection goggles, fit-over glasses and face shields from ACOVIC for interventional, cardiology and fluoroscopy teams in Singapore and Malaysia.
Protecting the eye lens during fluoroscopy and interventional work
The lens of the eye is sensitive to radiation. In 2011 the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recommended a much lower occupational dose limit for the eye lens, and interventional cardiologists, radiologists and their teams are among the most exposed. Radiation protection glasses are a simple way to cut that dose.
The ACOVIC range covers wrap-around lead glasses with side protection, lightweight sport-style frames, goggles with an adjustable strap, fit-over designs that flip up over prescription glasses, and an acrylic face shield for full-face splash protection. Lead equivalence ranges from about 0.1 to 0.75 mmPb depending on the model, with frame weights shown on each product.

Frequently asked questions
Why should I wear radiation protection glasses?
Scattered radiation during fluoroscopy and interventional procedures reaches the eyes, and the eye lens is sensitive to cumulative dose. Lead glasses reduce the dose to the lens and are recommended for staff who work close to the patient during these procedures.
Can I wear radiation glasses over my prescription glasses?
Yes. The Super Flip Over is a fit-over design that flips up over prescription glasses, and Model B is a goggle-style frame that fits over prescription lenses.
Why does side protection matter?
Staff often turn their head towards monitors during a procedure, so scatter can reach the eyes from the side. Wrap-around frames and side shields help cover that angle.
What lead equivalence do radiation glasses have?
It varies by model, from about 0.1 mmPb for lightweight frames up to 0.5–0.75 mmPb for heavier wrap-around frames. Higher equivalence gives more protection, while lighter frames are more comfortable for long cases.
