Frequently asked questions
Why wear a radiation protection cap?
Interventional operators work close to the scatter source for long periods. A radiation protection cap reduces scattered radiation reaching the head. The ACOVIC caps are lead-free, lightweight and vented for comfort.
Do radiation protection gloves protect hands in the primary beam?
No. Radiation-attenuating gloves are designed to reduce exposure from scattered and secondary radiation. Hands should be kept out of the primary beam wherever possible.
Are gonad and breast shields for staff or patients?
Both. The contoured gonad shields can be worn by staff under an apron or used for patients, and breast protection is worn beneath a front apron. Pediatric sizes are available for children who need repeat imaging.
